Thanks to every one for letting me do this. |
| 13 April 08:
I've deleted all the bad links on the website. Those were
mostly to photo galleries in the old Startlogic Server software that
were incompatible once we were migrated to the new website magagement
software a few months ago. |
| 13 April 08:
NEW UPDATE TO JROTC flight training!!! It's this SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY...Not Saturday as originally posted and emailed. It's at the new (and only) ARCS
field, from 9-1. IPs and flight engineers (repair artists and
engine experts) are in high demamd. Contact Buck Murray directly
to let him know you can help, or just wing it and show up unannounced!
Be sure to bring your tools, glues, clamps etc. Anything
that can make repairs possible would be AWESOME! Also remember,
the JROTC kids have priorty for flying during this time. While
you may fly your own planes during this time, you do so at your own
risk, Just Ask Josh "Bone Doc" Young about his 25% Edge that
experienced a head on with an inverted trainer at full speed last
spring. If 4 trainers are operational you probably won't get but
a few chances to fly your birds. |

26 March 08:
Hey folks, sad news: Dave Bailey, ARCS WebMaster
Supreme, will be leaving us by sometime this summer. He's
moving to the Dallas area. Sooo.., we're looking for a volunteer
to fill either the WebMaster or the Newsletter Editor positions.
I say either one because Rick Zondlo, Newsletter Editor, can do either
but even he doesn't have enough time for both.
Here are Rick's thoughts on the requirements for both positions.
If you think you might be interested, PLEASE EMAIL DAVE BAILEY (DavidBailey21715@att.net) AND RICK ZONDLO (ARCSEDITOR@satx.rr.com)
so we can arrange some time to talk about it. We'd like to be
sure that you know what you'd be in for if you choose to volunteer.
The WebMaster position requires:
- A fairly capable computer. And a bunch of free space on the hard drive! (The
web pages are built and saved on your hard drive, then uploaded to
Start Logic, but kept on your computer for the next set of
edits/updates)
- A high-speed internet connection. (Because of uploading large files, especially photos for the web site)
- Some degree of technical knowledge (networking, FTP, web and graphics design software, etc.)
- The ability to learn software programs on your own (from a book or tutorial). Dave has had to figure out a lot of this stuff on his own---and he's still learning!
- A knack for website design and design principles
would be helpful, but Dave has lists of a dozen or so helpful sites for
design and for specific code when needed.
- Photo editing software would be helpful.
- A lot of time and patience! The site needs
to be updated at least once a week, but Dave has often made updates
several times a day when lots of new information or photos are being
sent to him.
Editor position requires:
- A fairly capable computer. And a bunch of free space on the hard drive!
- Internet connection.
- I can provide most of the editing software and teach you basically how to use it.
- A digital camera, photo editing software, and the
ability to use both, although not absolutely necessary, would be most
helpful
- You'll need to be able to attend the majority of club meeting, fun-fly's and special events, etc.
- A willingness to devote the time required to get
it done. A newsletter is published every month and we need to
make the printing/distribution deadlines.
SIncerely, Dave Bailey and Rick Zondlo |

| 24 Mar 08:
The new ARCS Macdonna-Lacoste field is now officially up and
running. Big hats off to everyone who worked so hard on building
the pavillion, the roads, the taxiways, the runways and the like.
We now have a world class facility that can handle large
aircraft, including jets and 25% scale and more. Our club
leadership (Bill Ponsiego, Buck Murray, James Keck, and Frank
Patterson) really went all out with the background work, design, and
scheduling of every phase of development for the new field.
A special thanks to Ray Witthauer, and his many scouting and
AFJROTC compatriots who built our pavilion as part of his Eagle Scout
project. |
24 Mar 08: The
old Masterson Road Flying field will close officially on 31 March 08.
AMA will no longer insure that field and we no longer have owner
permission to be on the premises. Lannar homes owns the property
and no longer approves of our use of that field. The gate will be
permanently locked effective 1 April. Anyone on the premises, or
flying there is doing so at their own risk and without AMA or ARCS
approval.
The
Fun Fly originally scheduled for Easter Sunday has been moved to this
sunday, 30 March 08, and will be at the new Macdonna-Lacoste flying
field from 10:00 to 2:00. |
24 March 08:
Several folks have expressed interest in purchasing used
equipment. Since our For Sale and Wanted pages aren't working
yet, I'll list the info here:
Mike Nielsen is looking for a used OS LA 40 (925-2199) (Michael.Nielsen@MACB.com)
Charlie Harnett is looking for a used trainer and looking for an
